Meaning and story of Akshaya Tritiya
It is linked with the birth of Parashurama, the descent of the Ganga, the start of Treta Yuga and Krishna’s gift of the akshaya patra to the Pandavas. Sudama’s visit to Krishna on this day is a favourite story of friendship and humble giving.
The real wealth of the day is in giving: water, food, fans and grain in the summer heat. Buying something precious is optional; sharing is the heart of it.
